Mumbai SIs association ASIRT writes to CM for making IT Services as an Essential Service

In view of the alarming increase in the number of cases of COVID19, the Chief Minister of  Maharashtra announced a lockdown in Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Given the difficulties experienced in the earlier lockdown, with its adverse effect on the business communities, Mumbai-based IT system integrators association- ASIRT immediately swung into action to get connected with the concerned authorities in the state government.  The association’s president Tushar Parekh, connected with the CM’s office with a request to include IT Goods & Services as “Essential Services”. More so since IT had proved to be the backbone to all the operations be it Government, Healthcare, Education, NGO, Industry, Professionals and “Work from Home” individuals.

ASIRT sent its official communication to the CM’s office and asked other IT associations to forward their respective representations to the State Government as this is a common cause of concern to all businesses especially IT.

Acknowledging the intent and the sense of purpose, the state govt. thus included the “IT Goods & Services” as part of “Essential Services” in the additional notification of the revised guidelines released subsequently. ASIRT has been at the forefront of fighting for the cause of Systems Integrators and the IT industry as a whole. This was amply demonstrated by the proactive actions of its Leadership once more.
